What would you do if you are no longer afraid....
A recent phone chat with Terran, my University friend cum neighbour revealed that he has quitted his full time job to pursue his own dreams. At a time when money and career meant a lot to most of us, he has chosen a path otherwise taken. He has taken up a full time course on multimedia and visual communication design in the hope of fulfilling his interest.
I remembered Terran said something during the conversation that I will never forget:" I never want to be an engineer again".
So what really prompt him to make a bold career move, especially since he has just got married and needed a full time job to earn his bacon?
To Terran, life means living to the fullest. He didn't want to earn his monthly bacon and pass to his wife, rather, he wants to know what would have happened if he has pursued his interests.
Terran's story touches my heart immersely! Deep inside, I'm tired after working as an engineer for 5 years. Day in and out, we engineers have been slogging hard to solve issues, yet in the end, we are not duly paid for our effort.
Terran might not be earning any income now but he is enjoying life to the fullest. Isn't this what everyone hope for? Isn't this what every graduate hankers for after they graduate? What is the point of working so hard for our degree, yet committed ourselves to slaves at our workplace.
Aren't we looping back to where we started from?
Steve Jobs, CEO for Apple Inc. once said:" What would you do if you are no longer afraid?" Steve didn't complete his degree, yet he pursued his dreams and managed to create a name for himself.
I do not know if Terran is going to be as successful as Steve, but I truly believe in pursuing one's dreams and Terran has truly demostrated before my real eyes. The end result is not in whether it is going to be successful or not, but trying in the first place.
My dreams? I hope to open up a chain of supermarkets, as popular as Wal-mart......
Anyway, not to make this blog too dull, i have attached a picture done by Terran using photoshop.
Boy, he really likes me.....:)

The Gone Fishing Philosophy ...
Slow down. Pause. Listen to your heart.
Immerse in your dreams.
Confront your deepest fear. Let your fear power you into action, and not hold you back. Know that time waits for no man.
Now, is the perfectly good time to begin living your dreams. Reach into the depth of your soul, and find the will and courage to live a full life.
Don’t settle for less.
Take the leap of faith. Sail into the uncharted seas.
Experience the adventure of the lifetime. See how the forces of the universe respond in your favor. Experience how new possibilities unfold.
Live your dreams.
Reflect regularly. Get in touch with your soul.
Let your heart continue to steer, and let your soul be your pilot.
Experience the grandeur of nature, and how small you are in relation to its vastness.
Know your potential, arising from that smallness, to make great contributions.
Let the pursuit of your dreams lead you to your purpose. Do what you are meant to do. It would be challenging, but also meaningful and
fulfilling.
Serve, and be served. Love, and be loved. Give, and be given to.
Know that you are the source of all pain and joy that you experience.
Don’t pursue joy. It comes from within you, and is to be given away.
Be guided by your purpose. Be driven by it.
Focus on what you have, and channel them with all your heart to the path you are meant to take.
Learn what you need to learn. Learn from anyone, anything and any events that you could possibly learn from.
Be willing to do what it takes to stay faithfully on the path. Don’t quit.
Experience how purpose breathes meanings to life. Through its pursuit, live fully by being true to yourself, actualizing your highest potentials, and enjoy an enduring state of joy and peace.
