Connie, HDA Team Leader at H...
When I first worked at H, I didn't really know what HDD automation is all about. There were no manuals to refer to and not one to seek guidance from. My boss advise me that the best way to learn about these machines' operations is to stand there physically and understand how they operate.I was pretty amazed with their superior automation process, something which M needs to learn from.
On my 3rd day of work, I decided to don my "spiderman suit" and do some observation. Just as I was observing how the IB station works, a friendly and chatty lady operator approaches me:
Connie: Hello, are you new here?
Marc: Yup, my first day here.
Connie: So are you a technician or an engineer?
Marc: I'm a process engineer
Connie: Wow, so cool. (Eyes beaming brightly). Do you need any help here?
Marc: Well, I have been assigned by my boss to learn more about these machines.......
(Suddenly a loud bang was heard and the red lights above us starts to blink furiously)
Connie: Darn it! Stupid machine hangs again............
The robot arm hangs halfway and I was about to call for some technician's help when Connie starts to press some buttons on the computer screen before attempting to remove the jammed pack.
Marc: Wow, you know how to fix it?
Connie: Well, it happens all the time
Marc: Shouldn't we get some technicians here? They are more skillful.....
Connie: Why bother? They will only use the 3-steps approach.
Marc: Fill me in....
Connie: Reset, Switch off and Switch on.
Marc & Connie: (Laughing heartily)
